PRESSESTIMMEN
Born in Romania, the Hungarian speaking tenor Gergely Németi is soloist of
the Opera Stuttgart since 2012. Since his successful debut as Andres in the
new production of Wozzek, stage direction Andrea Moses, Gergely Nemeti
enchanted the Stuttgart audience performing the leading tenor roles in the
new productions of Iphigenie in Aulis, Don Giovanni, Nabucco and Cosi fan
tutte, in the revivals of Die Zauberflöte and Jenufa and in the roles of Elvino
in the Jossi Willer’s and Sergio Morabito’s award winning production of La
Sonnambula, Fenton in Falstaff, Der Rosenkavalier as the Italian Tenor.
His 2016-2017 season includes Verdi Requiem, Lenski in Evgenyi Oneghin,
Lieder Konzert with Ansi Verwey in Oper Stuttgart.
His 2015-2016 season includes Salome - premiere (Narraboth), Jenufa
(Steva), Falstaff (Fenton), Der Rosenkavalier (the Italian Tenor), Tristan und
Isolde (Stimme eines jungen Seemanns) in Stuttgart, and Idomeneo
(Idomeneo) at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern.
Gergely Nemeti first studied singing in Oradea, Romania. Later scholarships
at CEE Musiktheater Wien and Cardiff International Academy of Voice under
the guidance and supervision of CBE Dennis O'Neill, where he improved his
technical and artistic skills during numerous master classes with: Sherill
Milnes, Dame Anne Murray, KS. Bernd Weikl, CBE. Dennis O’Neill, John Fisher,
Jane Eaglen, KS. Ileana Cotrubas, Robert Stapleton, Carol Vaness, Dame Kiri
te Kanawa.
He started he's singing career during his studies in 2001 an the National
Opera House Timisoara, under the guidance of Corneliu Murgu. He
performed in several Opera, Operettas and Concerts.
He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2008 as the Messenger in
Aida with Zubin Mehta conducting. His voice allows him to embrace a wide,
multifaceted repertoire, and thus, between 2008 and 2012, he appeared on
the Viennese stage as Beppo (Pagliacci), Steuermann (Der fliegende
Holländer), Der Italienische Tenor (Der Rosenkavalier), Jaquino (Fidelio),
Cassio (Otello), Fenton (Falstaff), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Narraboth
(Salome), Stimme des Seemanns (Tristan und Isolde), Alfred (Die
Fledermaus), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) and was part of the cast in the
premieres of Das Rheingold - Froh, Tannhäuser - Walther von der Vogelweide
and Katja Kabanova - Kudrias.
In 2011 Gergely Nemeti made his debut on the stage of the Opera Zürich as
Lord Percy in the revival of Anna Bolena (with Elina Garança,Carlo
Colombara, Eva Mei, conducting Maestro Massimo Zanetti ).
The audience in Tokyo could see him performing in 2012 Walther von der
Vogelweide with Adam Fischer conducting.

Possessing a voice equally at home in Wagnerian repertoire, at Wiener Staatsoper Németi also
performed as the Steuermann (Der Fliegender Holländer), Walther von der Vogelweide
(Tannhäuser) and Froh in the new production of Das Rheingold, conducted by Music Director
